A lively community of digital marketing enthusiasts – that’s how you could describe the SeekandHit marketing office staff. Alike in many things, yet also different in a lot – our marketers can be divided in more than one way. For example, there is the hierarchy model and by it, in between the young, less experienced juniors and highly skilled seniors and leads, there is our middle man, the digital marketer. As every step of the way matters, so does every role in a team. Therefore, each of our teams gathers junior, marketer, and senior positions, headed by a team lead. With that being said, let’s see what one of our digital marketers is usually up to these days?
As a digital marketer, you are already pretty skilled and experienced in many aspects of running not just individual campaigns, but whole accounts or even client’s digital marketing activities in general. The time you’ve spent building up your operational skills as a junior has paid off and now you are in the perfect place and position to work on developing some other skills as well. From working in line with instructions given to you, a marketer progresses to a level in which strategic thinking, planning, and managing things becomes a part of the daily activities. Working on clients of your own is the next logical step a marketer is ready to take, and with the help of the senior and lead mentorship, develop their own ideas for their clients.
The daily activities keep including many of the operational tasks a junior marketer works on, such as campaign setup and checkup, keyword and targeting exploration, and basic bidding adjustments or budgeting of campaigns. Education remains very important as well, and while the topics may change, the expectations regarding time spent learning and practicing new things never will. Digital marketers will also get a chance to develop their mentoring skills, as they are more than ready and capable to teach their younger colleagues about many things, especially when it comes to operational skills. Lastly, the marketer level is a great phase to start developing your “relations with the clients” skills. While juniors get to participate in meetings with clients, a marketer will get the opportunity to suggest them and lead the conversation as well, being experienced enough to give suggestions or comment on the ones given by others.
Time spent communicating, both internally and externally, starts to take a toll in a marketer’s day. More and more time is spent planning, exploring, arranging. In return, there is less time spent doing operational work compared to the junior phase, in the same way a senior does even less operational work than a marketer. In this way, hierarchy in SeekaandHit is basically meant to push each and every marketer to work their way from purely operational work to more strategical one. This is how our marketers evolve, grow both professionally and personally. Thanks to that, our agency grows as well, both in size and knowledge.
As you can see, it’s the fine lines that make the difference as you climb on the positions ladder of the marketing team. If this tells us anything, it’s that every great lead was once an ambitious and persistent junior, who then walked in the marketer’s shoes, tried the world of seniors, and made it to the final stage. So, we can only say one thing to all our amazing digital marketers, working their way up – you now stand in the middle, which basically means you’re already halfway there. 😉
