In cooperation with CARNet and their www.hr project, I have written a brief introduction (a beginners’ guide) to search engine optimization (SEO) (in Croatian only).
Since CARNet is going to publish an expanded in-depth version, I have published the document in its original form, but you’ll be notified once it’s up on CARNet’s site.
To begin with, this document is to be taken as an overview of some fundamental topics which should be considered when designing a new website or when optimizing an existing site.
Considering that an effort was made so that the majority of people would become familiar with the optimization process (and that it was amount to no more than 10 or so pages!), some people might consider it too basic, uninteresting or will simply say “Hey, I know all this”. If you belong to this group of people, it’s a good sign 🙂
For others, those confused and who don’t know where to begin, the guide will probably help in better understanding this topic.
Furthermore, in trying to make it as simple as possible, some chapters have been omitted (as for example, redirecting, multilingualism, duplicate content…) so if you reckon that a few more topics should have been reviewed or the existing topics treated in more detail — you’re right. Personally, I think that a few additional pictures would have been great, but since the document is open for recommendations and further supplements, there is no excluding the possibility that a future version will be expanded and become more useful and informative.
